Arts & Coffee Party with Representative Torkelson
Arts folks from the New Ulm area and District 16 are invited to a Coffee Party with State Representative Paul Torkelson on Saturday, March 14 at 10 am at the Schell’s Room, New Ulm Holiday Inn, 2101 South Broadway Street.
The meeting will share the successes of our local artists and let Representative Torkelson know the powerful impact arts funding has on our community. Provided will be a list of the wonderful arts activities that have happened with funding from the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, through the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund, and grants from Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council (PLRAC).
All members of the community are welcome to attend, share their story and to advocate for the continued funding for the arts.
About the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund
The Arts & Cultural Heritage fund was created from the Legacy Amendment. It provides funding to the Minnesota State Arts Board and the eleven Regional Arts Councils in the state. Arts organizations and arts activities in our area may not exist without these grant monies. Representative Torkelson has served on the Minnesota House Legacy Funding Committee since its inception. This committee decides how the funds are distributed and what percentage goes to the MN State Arts Board and regional arts councils.
The Coffee Party meeting is sponsored by Minnesota Citizens for the Arts and the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council and is hosted by the Irish Cultural Society of New Ulm. Please contact Brenda with the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council at 507-833-8721 or email@example.com. Coffee and rolls will be served.
